2 years earlier...
Cheveyo rode Swift Eagle, his pie-bald black mare, back into the tribe's camp. He halted her near the corral, and dismounted. Palms grabbed the kill off of his comrade's back, for he was returning from hunting. Lyrics crooned to the mare gently, only to be cut off by the vocals of his cousin, Skah. His skull shook attempting to ignore Skah. But Skah pressed on, grabbing him by his shoulder trying to get him to listen. "Where have you been? Your father's been looking for you, you know. He's not even the slightest bit happy." Palms shoved the kill into the arms of Skah. Lyrics hissing irritably from Cheveyo, as he turned to release Swift Eagle into the corral with Skah's stallion, Yahto. "I was hunting..He can deal with it." Skah gave him a surprised expression. The two were of the same age, having grown up together made them close like brothers. But like brothers, they had their fights and opinions. He soon found his vocals to speak once more to Cheveyo. "You know our people's traditions..You can't run from them forever Cheveyo. Your the Viho's(chief's) shiye(son)!" Cheveyo's skull shook once again. He bit his lip in an attempt not to lash out at Skah. He locked the gate of the corral, turning to face Skah, lyrics speaking as he took the kill from him.[ "That's all anybpdy cares about! The traditions!" He headed towards his tepee with Skah close on his heels. Vocals flooding from Skah's lips. "You must face him sometime Cheveyo!" "I want nothing to do with him." "Then do what is right.." Cheveyo dropped the kill infront of his tepee, for he had listened to what Skah had said. Lyrics soon came from his vox. "You mean follow traditions and what my nosh(father) wants, not my own heart?" "I-I...I didn't mean it like that." "Of course not.." A sigh came from Skah as he finally gave up. Vocals speaking softly. "You'll understand when you and your heart gets over it." "What's that sup--" Cheveyo's lyrics stopped, for when he turned Skah had already left. Heavy sigh was released from him. His skull shook, lyrics mumbling underneath his breath. He set to work, cleaning out his kill and preparing it to be cooked. Some passed by giving him the acknowledgement that came with being the Viho's shiye, which he returned their acknowledgement with his own. Often it was just a nod, sometimes a few words were spoken between them. He got his fire going, and starting cooking the meat. Cleaning off his knife, he grabbed a log and started whittling away...

A few months later...
Cheveyo was heading to retrieve Swift Eagle. Hackamore in one hand, bow in the other. When his father stepped into his path, a scowl crossed over Cheveyo's facade. His father spoke towards him, he was in one of those moods.. "Cheveyo, my shiye(son)! I need to speak with you about some things!" "Nosh(father).." Cheveyo gave a slight nod to his father. He was intending to walk right past him without another word. Sadly he was not successful, for his father grasped his arm tightly, making him turn to look at him. His father's vocals sounding. "Where do you think your going?" "Since when did you ca--" A slap to his facade had cut off his lyrics. Jaw tightened, his whole frame tensing, for he was trying not to show that it hurt. If he did, it would show his father a sign of weakness, and his father would surely use it to his advantage. Cheveyo attempted to free his arm from his father's grip but once again was unsuccessful. His frame was thrown to the ground, making him drop the hackamore and bow on each side of him. Chocolate optics glared back up hatefully at his father's towering figure above him. His father's lyrics shouted curses and such at him as he stood back up, picking up the hackamore and bow. It had something to do with traditions..he had to follow them..An oath maybe? Cheveyo was unsure for he hadn't been listening to well. Other members of the tribe had come to see what all the fuss was about, but seeing that it was the Viho(chief) and his Shiye(son), they just stood back and watched. Cheveyo attempted yet again to pass his father. Only to be slapped across his facade once again. The hit had been practically accurate at hitting the same spot. A few tears had fallen down Cheveyo's cheek at the surging pain. "You do not have a choice in the matter!" "I do so! You just won't admit it!!" The Viho's anger showed, but Cheveyo's was still growing. His father lunged at him attempting to grasp Cheveyo by the shoulders, but was too slow. Cheveyo's frame dodged his father, and then took off at a dead run towards the corral. His father yelled curses once more, then started yelling at the other tribe members to stop Cheveyo. Skah had heard the calls and decided to try to persuade Cheveyo to stop. "Cheveyo! Wait!" Cheveyo ignored Skah, having slid the hackamore onto Swift Eagle and mounted quickly. He kicked Swift Eagle quickly into a gallop. Her frame pushing easily by Skah's who was opening up the gate to get in their way. Skah watched Cheveyo dumbfounded as he went past rapidly. But he had caught the anger on Cheveyo's facade. He had not seen that look on Cheveyo in a long time. Frame moved quickly to Yahto, his blue roan stallion. He mounted and took off after the still quickly moving duo of Cheveyo and Swift Eagle. He and Cheveyo had the two fastest equines out of their whole tribe, but he knew that Swift Eagle was faster than Yahto..

That same day..only a few hours later..
Cheveyo kept Swift Eagle at a dead run, her sides were heaving. Exhaustion was setting in, sweat thickly covered Swift Eagle's pelt. But on they ran, she was a loyal thing..always had been to Cheveyo. Tears had dried to his cheeks from the zephyr being created from Swift Eagle's speed that seemed to never falter. Seeing a stream up ahead, Cheveyo pulled Swift Eagle to a sudden halt. If his frame hadn't been prepared he would have been launched off of her. He dismounted quickly, sitting down next to the creek solemnly. His thoguhts were blank for a few moments, as he was trying to calm his emotions. Chocolate optics stared at the flowing waters of the stream. Skah hadn't wanted to wear Yahto out, so he had slowed the stallion up a bit. His optics gazed towards the still rapid moving Cheveyo, as he kept Yahto at a light gallop. He knew Yahto could seek out Swift Eagle for he was like a blood hound with Cheveyo's mare..always had been. Skah's gaze moved to the skies above, heavy sigh releasing from him. Something must have gone wrong..something he was hoping wouldn't occur. The duo rode for awhile, Skah not allowing the stallion to go any faster. Optics soon laid upon the figure of a riderless equine, Swift Eagle to be exact. Worry surged through him, but soon calmed as his gaze fell upon the figure of Cheveyo sitting on the ground. He halted Yahto a few paces from Swift Eagle. Gaze looked the mare over, she looked horrid..breathing hard and labored. Yet still she stood..As if protecting her master from any harm that could befall him. His skull shook, Skah had seen her like that before but not as bad. He dismounted, landing softly on the ground. Frame moved simply going next to Cheveyo's sitting frame, his own soon sitting next to him. torso leaned back on his arms, legs criss-crossed. His own optics stared into the stream for a few moments, waiting for Cheveyo to break the silence when he was ready to. "Why did you follow me?" "Huh? What?" "You heard me.." Skah looked at him surprised, for the question had taken him off guard. He had been expecting him to tell him what was wrong, not attacking him instead. Lyrics spoke calmly back to Cheveyo's flat toned ones. "Because I care about what happens to you! Why do you think I did?" "To get me to reason and go back with you." "That's not true and you know it!" "It is so Skah! I know you too well! All you want is for me to accept the way things are, not to do what I think is right! Chocolate optics glared at Skah's defensive ones. But then Skah's diverted away, his skull shook. Smirk playing across his facade as he stood. Lyrics spoke flatly. "Told you..Nothing you can do will change my mind about our tribes' traditions! I just plain don't agree with them!" His frame moved to Swift Eagle's side. Palms running over her pillars, boa, and sides checking for any injuries. He turned back around, about to go on speaking. Cheveyo's frame fell to the ground, with a hard hit to facade. Skah stood over him, angry as ever. Lyrics flooded from Cheveyo's vocals as he tried to stand..His own exhaustion of the days events taking hold of him. "What the heck Skah?!?" But Skah had already mounted Yahto and was glaring towards Cheveyo, preparing to leave. "I'm through with you Cheveyo! I don't know what has happened to you! But when you come back to your senses..Maybe we can talk when you've figured out that the world doesn't give you everything you want!" With that Skah kicked Yahto into a gallop headed back to camp. He was angered by Cheveyo, but somehow he couldn't stay to mad at him. He pushed Yahto faster at Swift Eagle's call wanting Yahto to turn back, which the stallion tried to do, but ended up listening to his master running forward with more speed. Skah could barely even hear Cheveyo's yelling lyrics as they were off. Cheveyo's skull shook as Skah took off. Optics went straigh to Swift Eagle, as his first thought was to race after Skah and settle it once and for all. But those chocolate optics broke as he actually saw..saw what a horrid condition he had put Swift Eagle in, for she still had labored breathing, her frame swaying slightly. A whinny escaped from her vox for Yahto, all the more setting Cheveyo off. Lyrics yelled after Skah. "Skah!! Skah get back here!!" Heavy sigh released from him, frame turning to look at Swift Eagle when a nudge was given to his arm. Lyrics spoke defeatedly. "Oh Swift Eagle..I'm so sorry." Arms wrapped around her boa tightly, embracing her and her him. Tears flowed down his cheeks once again. His life was plumiting..plumiting to the depths of the darkness...
