Aphrodite…goddess of love and beauty.
Her story starts as a foal. Young and beautiful. Still her god given color, a shining palomino. Some who knew her said she glowed with beauty, an irresistible filly. There was no other in her herd more beautiful. She even out did her mother, Minerva, a white mare. Her father too, was very proud and handsome, Diomedes, a golden chestnut stallion. Despite her popularity, she could never love. No madder who, even the most glories of the colts could not sway her heart. They would brood over her for hours, but she would shrug them off and walk away. One day, when she was but one and a half, her father Diomedes tried to convince her to go with a young black colt her age named Kreios. Aphrodite shook her head,
“Father, I feel no love for this colt. I will not reside with him.”
She said plainly. Diomedes was not one to give up though. He wanted his daughted to be with this colt. In his eyes he was perfect.

At the age of two, Aphrodite meet a colt at the watering hole. He was three, a year older than herself. He was a tall, lanky roan colt, Linos. They spotted each other across the lake their herds were sharing. Slowly, inch by inch, they came together. Soon they were standing side by side, not daring to take a peek at another. But soon that changed. By the end of the moon, they had become more than friends. But there was a problem, Aphrodite and Linos’s herd were rivals. At first this was no problem, but soon Aphrodite’s father became angry with this. He forbade them to see each other. Aphrodite was not swayed by her father’s threats. They continued to meet, in a secret valley. One day Aphrodite came to meet Linos. She waited for some time, it began to rain. She never gave up hope though, she stayed waiting for her love. It pored for days and day. She waited there, her eyes stared up the sky, never leaving. She cried for Linos, the tears streamed and never stopped. The rain for the valley was different than usual though. Soon her golden pelt lost its color, soaking into the ground, turning it gold. Her eyesight faded, growing from their beautiful bright blue to a milky white.

She left one day, from the place that once gave her so much joy. She did not go home. It would have caused to much pain. Her eyes sight was lost, until she sees her true love. She did not search for her love. She knew what had happened…they had been one...
